The creative process draws inspiration from iconic figures of French literature such as Edmond Dantès and Arsène Lupin, while exploring contrasting aesthetics through sunburst domed dials and hand-patinated straps.
Every element is selected with the utmost care, designed to capture the light, express a distinctive style and evoke emotion. Each collection is conceived as a watchmaking "vintage": individually numbered and inspired by a quote from a renowned French author, it stands the test of time with understated yet confident elegance.
The France Ébauches Movement
1977 has made the bold choice of using a French automatic calibre manufactured by France Ébauches in Maîche, in the Doubs region. This robust and proven mechanical lever movement descends from the historic FE4600 and FE5600 calibres, of which more than 25 million were produced during the 1970s and 1980s.
Specially customised for 1977, it features:
- A tricolour oscillating weight, the brand's signature.
- A full balance bridge and an Incabloc shock protection system.
- Accuracy of -7/+7 seconds per day.
- A 44-hour power reserve.
- A red number 7 on the date display, a subtle nod to the brand's name.

Everything is designed so that assembly becomes a natural extension of the design itself. Our watches feature durable 904L stainless steel, a branded seconds hand and clasp, as well as a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal.

1977 Straps
The straps of 1977 watches are crafted with the same high standards as the cases. Made from full-grain calf leather, they are dyed, hand-patinated and hand-finished.
